This drug has a generic
name Ethinyl estradiol and Drospirenone and sold under
the brand name Yaz which is a birth control pill. It functions by preventing

helps to perform changes in the cervical and uterine lining which further makes
the cervical mucus more viscous and make it harder for male sperms to reach the

a contraceptive way to prevent pregnancy.
This drug is also used in relieving the symptoms of premenstrual
dysphoric disorder (PMDD), such as depression, anxiety, irritability, concentration
troubles, lethargy, changes in sleep patterns or appetite, muscle or joint
pain, tender breasts, and weight gain. It is prescribed for other treatments
beside those listed above.
