SIRDALUD is a muscle relaxant which is usually prescribed in the condition of muscular pain or stiffness. This medicine is usually prescribed in the conditions such as spinal injury and multiple sclerosis.

How it works?

SIRDALUD works by relieving muscle spasms and increases the muscle tone to bring in relief from pain. Intake of this medicine relaxes the muscles and brings back that elasticity by reducing down that stiffness that has been leading to pain and other discomforts.

Important information about Medicine

Tizanidine is an agonist and it works by reducing spasticity and increases presynaptic inhibition of motor neurons. Conditions in which this medicine is usually prescribed include cramps, spasms, back pain, spastic diplegia, tightness of muscles and injuries causing muscle stiffness.

Dosage information
Patients need to take two or three tablets orally daily for a stipulated time frame. The doctor would decide on the course of duration and dosage looking at the condition of the patient.

What if you miss a dose?

No matter how many doses you take daily, make sure that you take each dose on time. In case, you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. Always take the dosage at evenly spaced intervals.

What if you overdose?

Do not double the dose as this might lead to severe reactions and make sure that you follow instructions provided by the doctor on the dosage.

Things to be taken care of

SIRDALUD falls in pregnancy category C, hence is not recommended for the pregnant and breastfeeding women. In case, you plan to conceive inform your doctor about this before you start taking this medicine. In case you are taking any anti-depressant, notify your doctor about this else these two when taken together might lead to severe interactions. If suffering from high or low blood pressure or liver or kidney related ailments, do not start taking this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Side Effects

Intake of SIRDALUD like many other medicines too could lead to some side effects, the ones that have been reported so far include:

• Upset stomach
• Dizziness
• Vomiting
• Dry mouth
• Tingling sensation in the legs, arms and feet

• Yellowing of the skin or eyes

Interaction with other drugs

There are certain drugs that might interact with SIRDALUD; these include ticlopidine, acyclovir, cimetidine, famotidine, birth control pills birth control pills, anti arrhythmics, blood pressure medications and certain antibiotics such as moxifloxacin, levofloxacin and ofloxacin. Always inform your doctor about the medicines you take or your past medical history before you start taking this muscle relaxer.
