How does the drug
work?
The combination medicine
works as bronchodilator and brings relief to symptoms of Asthma and COPD.
Salmeterol is long acting Beta 2 agonist and fluticasone is corticosteroid.
Both work in combination to treat the conditions doctors recommend it for.
How to take drug?
Take the puff once or
twice as inhalation from Inhaler.
Take an inhalation of 50
micrograms of salmeterol and 100 micrograms of fluticasone propionate twice
daily, or an inhalation of 50 micrograms of salmeterol and 250 micrograms of
fluticasone propionate twice daily or an inhalation of 50 micrograms salmeterol
and500 micrograms fluticasone propionate twice daily.

How long should drug to be continued?
Seretide accuhaler is
generally not a frequently prescribed inhaler. The drug shall be continued as
and when desired by your doctor. Hence, continue it till the time your doctor
has prescribed it for you. Also, consult your doctor for the daily dosage
required as it varies from person to person.
What if you miss the dosage?
If you have missed the
dose, take it immediately as soon as you remember it. Do not overdose yourself
with the inhaler with higher doses once in a day.
Drug interaction with other
More than 700 drug
interactions have been reported with use of Salmeterol/ fluticasone. Common
drugs with which it interacts is Aspirin, Nexium, Augmentin, Paracetamol,
Celebrex, Plavix etc.
When not to take the drug
Do not take the inhaler
if you have allergic reactions to any of the constituents of the drug.
Do not take the drug for
acute asthma cases or where fast relief is required
Side effects of intake
Common side effects
reported with the use of combination inhaler is nausea, myalgia, vomiting,
headache, pneumonia, candidiasis infection of mouth etc.
Over dose effects
Till date no clinical
data is available having overdose symptoms with the use of medicine. Hence
overdose side effects are not available.
General info and precautions
Carry the inhaler with
you always and every time you require it. Do not take it for fast relief. Avoid
taking higher doses of the combination medicine.
