Pentids is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections including those of ears, skin and soft tissues.

How it works?

PENTIDS binds to the penicillin binding proteins present in the bacterial cell wall and inhibit the last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Later on the cell lysis is mediated by the autolytic enzymes and this action act as an inhibitor.

Penicillin G is used to treat bacterial endocardinitis, meningococcal disease, bacterial infections and even intubation.

What if you miss a dose?

If you want to make this antibiotic deliver results make sure that you do not miss on the dose. Try and have the dosages as directed by the doctor on same time daily. In case, you miss on the dose, take it as soon as you get time and make sure that the time to next dose is not near.

What if you overdose?

Do not alter the dosage without consulting the doctor. In case, you take multiple doses by mistake, call up your doctor for advice. In case, you notice symptoms such as breathing problem, tightness in chest or even vomiting, get help from the nearby medical center immediately.

Things to be taken care of

There are certain medical conditions in which the use of PENTIDS is recommended after consulting the doctor. Patients suffering from leptospirosis, gas gangrene, typhoid fever and lyme disease should not take this medicine without consulting the doctor. PENTIDS needs to be taken by pregnant and lactating women after discussing with the doctor. In case, you are sensitive to penicillin, make sure that you notify this to the health care practitioner to avoid any discomfort from occurring.

Side Effects

Probable side effects of PENTIDS are convulsions, hypersensitivity reactions, cation intoxication, bone marrow hypoplasia, hemolytic anemia, local reactions and skin rashes. If any of these symptoms are noticed, the doctor needs to be consulted immediately.

Interaction with other drugs

PENTIDS is known to interact with drugs such as colestipol. It is always recommended to inform your doctor if you are on a diet plan, a supplement or an herbal medicine, about this before you start taking this medicine as the interactions might prove fatal.
