It has a generic name Metformin Hcl, which is an oral
anti-diabetic drug used for the treatment of type-2 diabetes. It is also
prescribed for type-1 diabetes (insulin dependent). Metformin is the only
anti-diabetic medicine that has reflected cardiovascular complications of
diabetes. It is also used with other medicines to treat diabetes. Type-2
diabetes mellitus is also known as insulin independent type-2 diabetes, which

trembling or shaking, hunger, loss of co-ordination, fits or loss of
consciousness, slow or uneven heart rate. In all of the above conditions you
are required to immediately increase the sugar level by- eating 2-3 teaspoon
sugar or honey, drinking a non diet soft drink, eating 2-3 concentrated glucose
tablets. If the situation worsens, then visit the nearest healthcare center or
contact your doctor immediately.
Side
effects
Tell your doctor if you
witness any of the following side effects vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain,
taste disturbance, lightheadedness, headache, dizziness, diarrhea, rashes and
sores. Seek medical emergency in such cases.
Things

Avoid the consumption of
alcohol. Elderly people require less number of doses. So, take as prescribed by
your doctor. From this drug, your skin becomes sensitive to sunlight than
