Clindac-A is an antibiotic prescribed for various types of bacterial infections on the skin.

How it works?

This medicine binds with the 50S ribosomal subunits of bacteria and as a result of this blocks the translocation process. Regular application decreases the amount of fatty acids thus providing relief from itching and burning sensation. This antibiotic slows down the growth of bacteria. This medicine is also prescribed for treating severe acne.

Clindamycin Phosphate Gel is used to treat severe bacterial infections on the skin such as acne vulgaris. This medicine belongs to the category of lincomycin antibiotics. This medicine is also prescribed for bacterial infections of the vagina.  

Dosage information

This topical cream needs to be applied on the infected area in a small amount. This medicine is meant to be applied on the skin, make sure that you follow all the instructions provided by the doctor. In case, you are not clear with it, consult your doctor or local pharmacist.

What if you miss a dose?

Try to apply this medicine after regular intervals as directed by the doctor. In case, you miss one dose, try and apply it as soon as you recall. Complete the course as this would prevent the infection from reoccurring.

What if you overdose?

Never exceed the dose, follow the instructions provided by the doctor.

Things to be taken care of

If pregnant, discuss about the risks of this antibiotic with your doctor in detail. If trying to conceive, or breast feeding your baby, use this antibiotic cream if doctor recommends. Make sure that you do not apply this cream near or around nose, eyes or mouth. This medicine should not be used on children below the age of 12 years. Always wash your hands and clean dry the infected area before applying the cream. Apply gently on the infected area without exerting any pressure. 

Side Effects

Although, no major side effects of Clindac-A have been reported so far, the minor to moderate ones that could bother you include:

§  Dryness of skin

§  Hives

§  Oily skin

§  Stomach upset

§  Abdominal pain

§  Nausea

§  Vomiting

§  Headache

Do not take any of these symptoms lightly, inform your doctor about these immediately.

Interaction with other drugs

There are some prescription and non-prescription drugs that might interact with Clindac-A, make sure you inform your doctors about the medicines that you take. If taking erythromycin or any neuromuscular blocker, inform your doctor as the constituents might interact with this antibiotic. If taking medicine for skin infection or an allergy, inform your doctor about this.
