Aprecap 125mg/80mg
Aprecap is an anti cancer medicine prescribed
for patients undergoing chemotherapy to prevent vomiting and nausea tendencies.
It might also be given to a patient after a surgery to prevent nausea from
occurring.
How it works?
This
medicine works by blocking neurokinin in the brain, which helps to prevent nausea
and vomiting.
Important information about Medicine
Aprepitant
belongs to a class of drugs called substance P antagonists (SPA). It is an
antiemetic which acts as a substance P/neurokinin 1 (NK1) receptor antagonist.
Intake of this medicine enhances antiemetic activity of corticosteroid and 5HT3
antagonists.
Dosage information
The
medicine needs to be taken by the patients undergoing chemotherapy once a day
daily before the session. The doctor might ask the patient to take this
medicine 2 to 3 hours before the surgery to prevent vomiting and nausea.

What if you miss a dose?
Patients
are advised to take the dose exactly as instructed by the doctor. In case, one
misses the dose the doctor needs to be informed immediately.
What if you overdose?
An overdose of this medicine might lead to
toxicity, thus one needs to take the dosage as prescribed by the doctor. In
case, one takes multiple doses, the in charge doctor needs to be informed
without any delay.
Things to be taken care of
Before
taking themedicine inform your doctor in case you are hypersensitive to any of
its ingredients. If you are pregnant, lactating or trying to conceive do not
take this medicine unless instructed by the doctor. Do not make any changes in your
diet while taking this medicine, incase you wish to inform the doctor in
advance and seek advice. Do not take this medicine if taking cisapride,
bosutinib, pimozide, tolvaptan or lomitapide.

Interaction with other drugs
Aprecap
might show interactions with medicines used for cystic fibrosis, anxiety,
allergies, blood thinning, birth control, depression erectile dysfunction, HIV,
high blood pressure, inflammation, immune system suppression and irregular
heartbeat.
This
medicine might also interact with multivitamin products, dietary supplements
and herbal formulations. If you are already taking a medicine and are unsure
whether it would interact with Aprecap, talk to your doctor regarding this. Do not start or stop taking any medicine while taking Aprecap without informing your doctor as this might lead to discomfort and minor interactions.
