This drug constitutes a generic name Ampicillin Cloxacillin which is a combination penicillin antibiotic medicine used to provide an extended line of effectiveness, specifically against penicillin-resistant infections. It is made up of two active ingredients i.e. Ampicillin and Cloxacillin. This medicine is used to combat against various bacterial infections like middle ear infections, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, gastro intestinal infections, skin and soft tissue infections (boils, infections due to insect bites, impetigo a bacterial skin infection characterized by small pus filled blisters, and endocarditis inflammation of the lining of the heart and its valves).

Important information about Ampicillin Cloxacillin

Do not consider Ampicillin and Cloxacillin antibiotic medication (Megapen, Clamp) in use if you have known allergy to it, or Cloxacillin or to other penicillin antibiotic medicines including amoxicillin, dicloxacillin, oxacillin, or penicillin, and others. Before taking this medicine, inform your physician to cephalosporin antibiotics such as Cefaclor, Cefuroxime Axetil, Cephalexin, Cefadroxil, and others. Also, notify your doctor if you have any medical conditions: liver or kidney disease, inflammatory bowel disease or ulcerative colitis, leukemia, glandular fever, or if you are taking other medicines. In case, if you are pregnant or breast feeding woman, take this medicine upon your doctor advice. Oral contraceptives may not be as effective as usual methods while you are on the treatment with Ampicillin and Cloxacillin. It is generally recommended that you should use non hormonal form of contraceptive such as (condoms, spermicidal, or diaphragm) while taking Ampicillin and Cloxacillin.

Complete the full course of medicine even if your symptoms are clear or gone off.  Not taking this medicine as per the full line course prescribed by your physician or doctor can worsen your conditions and cause serious problems which are drug resistant. Side Effects

Diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting are some common side effects caused by Ampicillin and Cloxacillin. If any of these effects persists or deteriorate, consult your doctor on the immediate basis. In some rare cases, it may unlikely cause serious side effects such as persistent/bloody diarrhea (Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea), dark urine, persistent nausea/vomiting, severe stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing eyes/skin, easy bruising/bleeding, new signs of infection (fever, persistent sore throat), or unusual tiredness.
