Oxitan is an anti cancer
drug that is used to treat colon and rectum cancers of advanced
stage along with other treatment options.
How
it works?
This medicine works by
interfering with the DNA structure of cancer cells and inhibits their functionality
thus killing them and slowing down the growth of tumor.

Oxaliplatin belongs to
the category of drugs called anti-neoplastic and is used to treat rectum cancer
following a surgery used to remove tumor.
Dosage
information
One needs to follow the
dosage instructions as recommended by the doctor and continue with the intake
till the time recommended. In adults the prescribed dosage is of 85mg/m2 along
with folinic acid and 5-fluorouracil repeated every 2 weeks for 12 cycles.

Interaction
with other drugs
Although no sever
interactions have been reported, still, the patients taking Oxitan are advised
not to take any other medicine, not even any other anti cancer drug along with
the medicine. If you are taking any anti allergy or diabetes or blood pressure
medicine inform about this to your doctor.
Do not take this medicine
with any fluid except water and ensure that you keep a time gap of at least two
hours between the intake and food. One last thing, to avoid any interactions,
go for a healthy and balanced diet as recommended by the doctor.
