Lomitas is an antibiotic used to treat both mild to major infections of the urinary tract and respiratory tract.

How it works?

Lomitas is used for treating bacterial infections in the body. This antibiotic falls under the category of fluoroquinolones and is prescribed in conditions such as bronchitis and urinary tract infections.

Important information about Lomefloxacin

Lomefloxacin is used to treat bacterial infections present in the anterior area of the eye that cause conjunctivitis, blepharoconjunctivitis and blepharitis. This medicine is also used to treat otitis media and otitis externa.

Dosage information

Always take the dosage prescribed by the doctor and make sure that you do not alter it in any way. Lomitas is to be taken empty stomach with plain water. Make sure that you do not consume anything for at least an hour after taking the medicine.

What if you miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Make sure that you never take a double dose to compensate for the missed one. If the time of the next dose is near, go with the regular routine leaving the missed one.

What if you overdose?

In case you overdose and experience symptoms such as faster or no urination or blue lips, get in touch with the closest poison center immediately.

Things to be taken care of

Prior to taking Lomitas, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver related issue, diabetes, heart problem, weak muscles, breathing problem of if you have been operated for any tumor or head injury in the past. For anyone who has a family history of OT syndrome needs to inform the doctor about this before taking this medicine. Although no case of Lomitas doing any kind of harm to pregnant lady or fetus has been reported so far, but still do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, lactating or even trying to conceive until prescribed. Make sure that you never take this medicine with a mineral supplement or an antacid as the ingredients present might react.

Side Effects

Intake of Lomitas might lead to allergic reactions that include swelling on face, lips, hives, breathing problem and numbness. Other rare side effects include giddiness, vision problems, blisters, diarrhea, watery stools, joint stiffness, severe headache, sore throat, fever and even pale skin. Any of these symptoms should not be taken lightly and need to be reported to the doctor almost immediately.

Interaction with other drugs

There are some medicines that would react with Lomitas, such as tizanidine, clozapine, warfarin, gluburid, phenytoin, ibuprofen, meloxicam, cyclosporine, probenecid and metoclopramide. If you are taking any of these drugs, inform your doctor about it and make sure that you do not take these along with Lomitas without informing the doctor. Do not alter the course in any way; complete it the way the doctor has recommended to get rid of the infection.
