INTAXEL
100mg
Intaxel is an anti cancer
drug prescribed in the cases of breast and ovarian cancer when chemotherapy
sessions fail. This medication is also used to treat head and neck cancers.
How
it works?
This medicine works by
slowing down the growth of cancer cells and even stops them from growing and
spreading.
Important
information about Medicine
Pacltiaxel is a mitotic
inhibitor that works by inhibiting the growth, spread and reproduction of
cancer cells in the body.
Dosage
information
In adults, the
recommended dosage is of 135 to 175mg/m2 in the course
of three to four weeks. The injection needs to be administered by the doctor in
the vein of the cancer patient.

Intaxel is available in
two strengths, 100 mg and 260mg.
What
if you miss a dose?
Being an anti cancer drug
chances of missing the dose are zero, still if one misses the dose the health
care provider needs to be consulted immediately.
What
if you overdose?
Any modification in the
dosage prescribed and instructed by the care giver is strictly not allowed. If
one overdoses, the local pharmacist needs or medical emergency services need to
be contacted. If patient feels dizzy or vomits, the nearby poison center needs
to be informed.
Things
to be taken care of
This anti cancer medicine
falls in pregnancy category D, thus is strictly not recommended for pregnant
ladies. If you are trying to conceive or breast feeding your baby do not take
this medicine. For anyone who has heart, liver or kidney related diseases needs
to notify the doctor before taking Intaxel. The ones with HIV or viral
infection need to inform the doctor about complete past medical history before
the injection is given. This injection might bring down platelet count thus one
needs to go in for regular blood tests. After administration of injection the
constituents present might cause haziness, in case the patient feels too
uncomfortable the doctor can be consulted.

Interaction
with other drugs
There are several
constituents present in Intaxel that might react with other medicines and thus
one needs to avoid taking any other medicine even any other anti cancer drug
with it. Alcohol intake needs to be avoided as this might cut down on the
absorption and then the constituents might take more time to deliver
results.
