Doxicip is an antibiotic
that is used to treat and preventing bacterial infections in the body. It
treats infections of eyes, respiratory and urinary tract and even acne. Other
bacterial infections for which this medicine is indicated include malaria,
ophthalmic infection, pneumonia, ticks fever, gonococcal infections and amoebic
dysentery.

it works?
This medicine works by
obstructing and controlling the process of cellular protein making in the
bacteria. It brings down the fatty acid concentration and as a result of this the
growth of bacteria stops.

Doxycycline hydrochloride
belongs to the category of tetracyclines antibiotics. This antibiotic is
prescribed for acne, blemishes, gonorrhea, bumps and periodontitis.
Dosage
information
For sever infections the
recommended dosage is of 100mg once a day. For acne, one needs to take 50mg
once a day. The doctor would decide on both dosage and length of course looking
at the type of infection and the level of treatment required.

if you miss a dose?

If you have been taking
treatment for hypersensitivity, allergy or any other health issue, notify this
to your doctor. This medicine is not be taken by kids below the age of 8 years.
Avoid exposure to sun when taking this medicine as it could lead to sunburn,
try and use sunscreen daily. Do not take this medicine if trying to conceive,
pregnant or lactating without consulting your doctor. If taking birth control
pills that contain estrogen, ask your doctor about the alternative birth
control methods as these might bring down the absorption rate of Doxicip.

with other drugs

with glymidine, rifampicin, phenytoin, carbazepine, sodium picosulphate,
riboflavin and phenobarbitone. If you are on a medicine, inform your doctor
before taking this medicine. Do not take Doxicip with an antacid or a dietary
supplement as this could also lead to interactions. Do not start taking any new
medicine when taking Doxicip.
