This drug has a generic name Losartan Potassium and Hydrochlorothiazide which is a combination medicine for hypertension (high blood pressure) that constitutes two active ingredients, Losartan Potassium and Hydrochlorothiazide. The first constituent Losartan Potassium is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that prevents blockage of blood vessels, thereby, improves blood flow and lowers the blood pressure. It is also used to reduce the risk of heart stroke in certain people who have heart disease. While, the second active ingredient Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide dieuretic (water pill) that stops the body from absorbing too much salt that retain which results in fluid retention. In order to make sure that this drug is fine for you, inform your doctor in advance if you have any of the following conditions: heart disease or congestive heart failure, kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis), liver disease, lupus, gout, glaucoma diabetes, asthma, or an allergy to sulfa drugs or penicillin.

It belongs to the pregnancy category D drug. You should not take this drug in pregnancy stage because it can cause injury or death of an unborn baby if pregnant women take it in second or third trimester.
