Dosage information

Recommended dosage of the medicine ranges from 200mg to 800 mg depending on the severity of infection. Let the doctor decide on the dosage and length of the course. The medicine comes in the form of a tablet and needs to be taken with food.

 What if you miss a dose?

 Try not to miss on the dose, in case you do, take the missed dose as soon as possible. If the time to the next dose is near, skip on the missed one and follow the regular routine.

What if you overdose?

 Altering the dosage recommended by the doctor might prove fatal. In case, you take multiple doses, visit your nearby medical emergency center or call up your health care practitioner for advice.

 Things to be taken care of

 Although the studies have not demonstrated any risk to the fetus, make sure that you take this medicine without consulting the doctor if pregnant or lactating. If you are hypersensitive to any medicine, make sure that you do not take this medicine until instructed by the doctor. If allergic to an antibiotic, make sure that you notify your doctor about this before starting with the course. For anyone who is taking medicine for renal impairment needs to inform the doctor. Avoid long term use, just make sure that you complete the course and do not take the medicine after that unless the doctor instructs.

Side Effects 

Possible side effects that would bother you with the intake of CEFOPROX are diarrhea, vaginal infections, headache, fungal infections, fatigue, facial swelling, abdominal distention, chest pain, migraine, dilatation of blood vessels, edema and high or low blood pressure. Other side effects include rectal disorders, eructation, anemia, dehydration, increased thirst, mouth ulcers, loss of appetite and increased muscle pain. Talk to your doctor in detail about the side effects.

Interaction with other drugs

CEFOPROX might interact with H2-blockers and antacids bringing down the rate of absorption. Probenecid might inhibit the renal excretion. Do not take this medicine if taking futosemide and it could lead to additive nephtotoxic effects. If taking medicine for diabetes or high or low blood pressure, notify your doctor about this before beginning the course.
