information about Medicine
Ampicillin is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial
infections caused by gram positive bacteria Hinfluenzae Ecoli Proteus
Salmonella, shigella strepviridans and pneumococci gonococci.
Dosage
information
The doctor would decide on the dosage looking into the
severity of infection. Make sure that you take the dose on time and complete
the entire course. The medicine needs to be taken empty stomach or at least 2
hours before the meal.

What
if you miss a dose?
Do not skip the dose; take it at regular intervals as
directed by the doctor. In case, you miss a dose; take it the moment you
remember. Always maintain the time gap suggested by the doctor to prevent any

What
if you overdose?
Never exceed the dose directed by the doctor as the
outcome could be fatal. In case, you have taken multiple doses by mistake, get
in touch with the local medical facility without any delay. In case you notice
symptoms such as loose stools, vomiting or dizziness, visit your nearby health
care center for medical attention.
Things
to be taken care of
Alert your doctor if you are allergic to any type of
penicillin or if you are taking any medicine for diabetes or heart related
problems. This medicine is not to be used if you are pregnant as it could cause
harm to the baby, the intake is strictly prohibited in first trimester. Even if
you are trying to conceive or lactating, refrain from using this medicine
unless directed by the doctor. If allergic to cefalexin, cefuroxime or
cefaclor, inform this to your doctor.
Side
Effects
Side effects of Campicillin are wheezing, tightness of
chest, fever, swelling of face, seizures, loose stools, rashes, bleeding, bad
cough and upset stomach. Report these symptoms to the doctor immediately as any
delay could deteriorate your condition.
Interaction
with other drugs
Campicillin is known to interact with medicines such as
probenecid, allupurinol, warfarin and methotrexate. Do not take this medicine
with an herbal supplement or an antacid as this could bring down the absorption
rate considerably. In case, you need to take an antacid, maintain a gap of at
least 2 hours with the medicine intake. In case, you are taking an oral
contraceptive containing oestrogen, inform your doctor about this before you
start taking Campicillin. Avoid intake of alcohol with the medicine as
this could lead to sever interactions.
