Valzar-5/160 MG
This drug is a
combination of two active ingredients Amlodipine Besilate and Valsartan, which
is mainly prescribed for the treatment of hypertension or high blood pressure.
Amlodipine Besilate is a long acting dihydropyridine-type
calcium channel blocker that prevents chest pain by relaxing heart and blood
vessels. While, Valsartan is an Angiotensin II receptor antagonist that keeps
blood vessels in a relaxed state. It is the common drug which is prescribed to
reduce the hypertension and to prevent angina or chest pain.
How
Amlodipine Besylate + Valsartan works?
Amlodipine Besylate works by inhibiting the movement of
calcium ions via L type calcium channels into the vascular tissues and cardiac
muscle cells. By restraining the entry of calcium channels, patients can
decrease the contractility of arterial smooth muscles and causes vasodilation.
It leads to relaxation of blood vessels which circulate the blood flow properly
and reduces the overall blood pressure. The second important ingredient i.e.
Valsartan is a angiotensin II receptor blocker to
angiotensin I, which is mainly found in tissues such as smooth muscles and
adrenal glands. Angiotension exerts vasoconstriction and aldosterone effects
and this inhibition results in dilation of blood vessels that reduces blood
pressure. This combination drug helps patients to reduce the elevated level of
blood pressure effectively.
