AT-5+50 MG
Amlopres has a generic
name Amlodipine Besylate + Atenolol, in which Amlodipine Besylate is a long
acting dihydropyridine-type calcium channel blocker drug while the other
composition Atenolol is a beta blocker drug widely used for the treatment of
hypertension, chest pain and post heart attack. This one of the best
combination medicine prescribed for reducing hypertension and chest pain or
angina attacks. It is also helpful in preventing strokes, heart attacks and
kidney problems.
How
Amlodipine Besylate + Atenolol works?
Amlodipine Besylate works by inhibiting the movement of
calcium ions via L type calcium channels into the vascular tissues and cardiac
muscle cells. By restraining the entry of calcium channels, patients can
decrease the contractility of arterial smooth muscles and causes vasodilation.
It leads to relaxation of blood vessels which circulate the blood flow properly
and reduces the overall blood pressure. On the contrary, Atenolol starts it
work by binding with beta receptors which is present in the heart and vascular
smooth muscles. It relaxes the blood vessels and helps in lowering the blood
pressure.
